Doors and windows
A door that closes the first time
Most sticking doors aren't warped. A hinge screw has pulled loose or a strike plate has drifted, and the fix is ten minutes with the right screw.
We re-hang doors, swap locksets and deadbolts, and fit window locks and sash hardware.
Hinge and strike-plate adjustments
New knobs, levers and deadbolts
Weatherstripping and door sweeps
Window locks, sash cords and latches

Replaced on doors and windows that let in daylight or drafts.
Garage entry doors
Hinges, closers and sweeps on the door from the garage.

Good to know
What changes the time, and what we pass on
What changes the time
- How many doors, and whether the frame is sound
- Whether the hardware you bought matches the old holes
- Windows that are painted shut or swollen
Permits and rules
Replacing a window or a door frame is outside the plan. In a home built before 1978 we don't scrape or sand painted trim, and we don't remove windows; a certified firm takes that work.
Questions about this work
Do you replace whole windows?
No. We fix hardware and weatherstripping. Replacement windows go to a window installer.
Can you re-key my locks?
We swap locksets and deadbolts. Re-keying a lock you want to keep is a locksmith's job.
I bought the lockset already. Is that okay?
Yes, send us a photo of the box and the door edge so we can check the fit.
What if the door is warped?
We'll tell you. A warped door sometimes needs planing or a new door, and we'd quote that separately.
