Small repairs
The loose, squeaky and crooked
These are the jobs that sit on the list longest because each one is only twenty minutes. A handrail that wobbles, a stair tread that squeaks, a cabinet door that won't hang straight.
We fix what can be fixed with fasteners, glue and adjustment, and we tell you when a repair is a rebuild.

What changes the time
- Whether the wood underneath is sound
- How many stairs, doors or screens
- Whether a part has to be ordered
Permits and rules
We don't build or rebuild stairs, railings or decks; those are carpentry with permits and inspections. We do re-fasten what's loose and flag what is rotted or unsafe, so you can get a quote from a carpenter.
Questions about this work
Do you repair rotted boards?
We flag them. Replacing structural boards is carpentry for a deck builder or a carpenter.
Can you make a handrail safe?
We re-fasten it into solid framing and tell you if the railing won't pass a hard shake.
What about a gate that sags?
Usually a hinge or a post. We adjust it, and we tell you if the post needs resetting.
Do you work outside?
Yes, within the ladder limit. In winter the work moves indoors.
